Fix Links On music.download.com

If you don't want the preamble and just want the Greasemonkey script, click here.

What is this?

music.download.com puts a lot of unneccessary rubbish in their MP3 links. This means that you have to wait for the file to download rather than being able to use Quicktime or Stream MP3 to stream the file.

What do I need to run this?
You will need:

  • Firefox as your browser
  • The Greasemonkey extension
  • An MP3 player that can play M3U files. Most do - in fact I haven't yet heard of any recent players that don't. I've tested this with both Windows Media Player and WinAmp.

How do I install it?

  • If you haven't already installed it, then go to this page and install Greasemonkey. Don't forget to restart Firefox afterwards.
  • Right click on this link and select "Install User Script..."
  • That's it! Now go to music.download.com

How do I get it to work with Stream MP3?

Currently there is no way in Greasemonkey to rearrange the order in which scripts are applied. To get around this you must install this script first and then install/reinstall Stream MP3.
