The American War Machine Is Broken

The Iraq war has done an incredible amount of damage to America's reputation as a superpower.

Firstly the world watches in amazement as the best funded, and most invasive inteligence service in the world fails in it's job in the most spectacular way possible. OK, they were mostly drunk on wishful thinking and this fueled the failure but I was dissapointed. I mean I was brought up to believe that the Americans had spy satellites that could read the time on your wristwatch and wire taps that would automatically kick in if you said "I will kill Ronald Reagan."

Next we watch in horror as the truth is revealed of what an American soldier truly is. Before the war I had read how Iraqis are politically aware and sophisticated people, friendlyand welcoming, and how their country was the birth place of civilisation. Now we see these sophisticated Iraqis being bullied by shit-scared spotty 15 year olds with twitchy trigger fingers, kids who would be perfect in McDonalds but might be a bit out of their depth here.

Of course some people weren't surprised by the poor quality of the soldiers as America's military strength comes from technology. Well this fascinating article shows that even this is wishful thinking based on clever marketing.
